SCOUT PARENTS: SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE!
Troop 895 is putting together a list of skills, hobbies, education, and experience to assist our scouts when planning service projects or working on merit badges. We can always use knowledgeable experts to assist with technical details on service projects or assist current merit badge counselors. While many Eagle projects involve construction, others involve planning that often requires some advice or guidance from lawyers, accountants, doctors, dentists, auto mechanics, astronomers, geologists, IT specialists, communications practitioners, or people with lots of other skill sets. Merit badges cover almost all topics from astronomy to zoology (and yes, I know that the zoology merit badge was discontinued in 1972 but you get the point). The list of all current merit badges is available at http://www.scouting.org/meritbadges.aspx
We have 4 weeks of merit badge sessions to be conducted during January troop meetings and we would love to expand our offerings to the Scouts.
Boy Scout Troop 895 continues a 50 year tradition of guiding boys through the Scouting program for ages 11-18. We are a fun group with members from Falls Church City, Alexandria City, Arlington County, and Fairfax County, Virginia. Falls Church Presbyterian is our proud sponsoring organization, but like most troops, we welcome members regardless of religious faith.
This website provides access to important information about the troop including the calendar, forms, and helpful websites. For members of the troop, there is additional information such as rosters and other private information.
